Pomcast started in May 2005. I didn’t know then that it would turn into 91 episodes, hundreds of posts, and interviews with people I never imagined I’d get to sit across from — at WWDC, at Úll, at conferences in cities I only knew from maps until Pomcast gave me a reason to go.

Looking back at the archive to write this, the numbers tell the story better than my memory does. 2006 and 2007 were the real engine of this thing — 139 posts one year, 172 the next, with a single month (June 2007) racking up 40 posts on its own. That was Pomcast at full speed: a show, a community, a habit.

2009 gave us one more real chapter — a spring where the show came roaring back, March alone carrying 27 posts. After that, the posts got rarer. Not because the show died, but because it became something I’d return to only when it mattered enough — a WWDC interview here, a Boston Computer Society panel there, a blind developer trying an Apple Vision Pro for the first time. Every one of those later posts, few as they were, was still something I wanted to make.

That’s the honest truth of this goodbye: Pomcast isn’t ending because it ran out of things to say. It’s ending because my priorities changed, slowly and then completely, over twenty years — the way priorities do. The show gave me everything a hobby is supposed to give: friendships, a reason to keep learning, a reason to keep showing up to Apple’s world year after year, and an archive of nearly two decades that I still get to be proud of.

None of those middle years were a one-person job, either. Between roughly 2007 and 2009 — the busiest stretch this site ever saw — Pomcast was kept alive by a small team, not just me. Phil_Goud was THE MAN of that era, full stop. Vince kept the hosting running for so many years, patiently, long before he was still the one I called on for the WordPress migration a decade later. HpTroll was there from the very start — in the very first episode, alongside me and Vince. And then Alia, LePompier, LeMartien, and plenty of others who showed up, edited, posted, and carried the show through its busiest and best years. Pof — Giovanni Olivera — built and AJAXised the site itself, the engine behind the scenes that most listeners never saw but that kept this whole thing running. Thank you, all of you — Pomcast in that era was as much yours as mine.

So — thank you. To everyone who ever hit play, who commented, who let me interview them, who sent an email or a mention. And to the guests who gave a small Apple podcast their time when they absolutely didn’t have to — Steve Wozniak, Aaron Hillegass, the Ecamm brothers, and so many more. Pomcast was never really about me talking into a microphone; it was about who showed up because of it.

The archive stays up for now, but not forever in this form. Later this year, this site will be retired down to a single page — just a list of the videos, still hosted on YouTube. If anyone out there has a use for the pomcast.com domain itself, it’s effectively up for grabs — reach out.
